Pune Metro | Defence Ministry finally gives land in Khadki stretch

Pune: The wait is finally over with Defence Ministry finally giving go ahead to transfer land in Khadki stretch. The ministry has given green signal after 10 months to transfer 10 acres of land for Pune Metro project. This will be coming up in Khadki area of Pune. The proposal was sent by MahaMetro around 10 months back. It is now that the Defence Ministry has given a go-ahead to transfer the land to the metro body. As per information, land transfer proposal has been approved but alternative land to be given is yet to be decided. The good news was shared by managing director, Maha Metro Brijesh Dixit. In an interview to Indian Express he was quoted as saying, “We are happy to announce that the Defence Ministry has cleared the Pune Metro right of way permission, as also the land transfer proposal for Metro stations.” Incidentally, Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar, who hails from Pune, had assured the metro body on getting quick approval. Pune Metro | Maha-Metro wants special planning authority status like Nagpur

Maharashtra:  For Pune the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) has demanded for special planning authority (SPA) status, like in Nagpur.This status will be helpful in different way which will also helpful for devloping the land. Recently the Maha-Metro got the SPA status in Nagpur. The SPA will help in organisation plan for developing the lands for this reason only the Maha-Metro is expecting the same in Pune. Was Pune Metro consultancy contract given without competitive bidding?

Pune: There is negative buzz around Pune Metro consultancy contract. It is alleged that the contract was given without tendering. The work has been given to a consortium of four companies, led by France-based infrastructure consulting firm Systra. Systra won the contract for General Consultant (GC) for Phase-1 of the Pune Metro Rail Project. As per popular business news portal, Business Line , the contract was awarded without the competitive bidding process. The Pune Metro Phase-1 project estimated at ₹11,420-crore. Work for the project is taken up by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro) - a joint venture company between  the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra. Pune Metro | From next month a new look and feel of metro rail to citizens

Pune: From next month the citizens will now be able to get a better idea of Pune metro. At JM road the Maha Metro Rail Corporation has planned to set up an information center and this will be a replica of metro rail coach. The center will work as a platform and it will provide information about Pune’s metro project to citizens. It will be equipped with the information system with an LED screen. Pune Metro | Entry and exit of underground tunnels identified by Maha Metro

Pune: The entry and exit point of all five underground metro stations have been identified  for Pune Metro Rail Project by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation . Station length is also decided by the officials as notified by the authority on Friday. Maha Metro is planning to maximise use of daylight and natural ventilation. Rain water harvesting on the stations will result in 27,500 cubic meters of water being recharged. We have used bio digestors for recycling and reuse of water of water in Nagpur. We are in the process of examining wet land treatment for sewage treatment which should result in adequate flushing water for public toilets. (Maha-Metro) has announced on Wednesday that they have received first safety clearance from Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) after their two days inspection of 5 km section at-grade level from Khapri to South Airport . The  Nagpur Metro  is likely to start its first commercial run on a 14-km stretch between Khapri and Sitabuldi in March next year. MahaMetro Managing Director Brijesh Dixit said that with the first certificate of safety having being issued, “at-grade (ground level)”, for a 5-km section from Khapri to South airport, “way has been paved for the first commercial ride in March 2019”. “We are planning to start a pre-launch free ride for the under-privileged, like those who are differently-abled, senior citizens and the homeless, on demand at the at-grade section.  Three stations on the stretch have already been completed. Pune: After introduction of new Metro Rail Policy and reviewing the proposal submitted by the state, the Central government on Wednesday, approved long awaited metro corridor between Shivajinagar and Hinjewadi in Pune on a public private partnership (PPP) basis. “The nod has been received for the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro corridor by the Central government and they have approved Rs.1,300 crore as viability gap funding for the same. The Maharashtra government had already cleared this project which will be executed by the PMRDA”, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PMRDA Kiran Gitte said. He further said that the secretary of economic affairs, officers from the urban development department, Niti Aayog , department of finance and other ministries were present at a meeting, along with PMRDA officials, to clear the project. Pune: The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) said on Thursday that the project is not facing any financial crunch at present. Around Rs300 crore has been spent on the ongoing work on the two Metro corridors in the city and most of the expenses have been on civil work. This project received budgetary allocation of Rs 582 crore for the current financial year. The Maha Metro has sought allotment of Rs 750 crore and for the next financial year (2018-19). According to Maha Metro managing director Brijesh Dixit, the corporation was in talks with two foreign firms for loan and the agreement was expected to be finalized by June. The Union government’s department of economic affairs had posed the  Pune Metro project to European Investment Bank and AFD France. The talks with both the institutions are under way. According to Maha Metro official, the preliminary work pertaining to planning and designing on the Swargate mu...

Maha Metro board gives nod to install PSG and PSD on all metro stations

Nagpur: The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) has taken a decision to install platform screen gates (PSGs) at 25 elevated and platform screen doors (PSDs) at five underground Metro rail stations in the city to prevent accidental falls, suicides and homicides. The installation of PSGs and PSDs will cost an amount nearly Rs 170 crore and the Maha-Metro will manage to raise the money from its approved cost of Rs11,420 crore itself. The Board of Directors (BoD) took this decision in the meeting held on Friday. According to Managing Director Brijesh Dixit, the provisions for PSGs and PSDs were not made in the detailed project report (DPR) sanctioned on January 9 last year. It was the same case with Nagpur Metro too. We incorporated it later and have ensured that all Metro stations will have PSGs. A similar thing has been done for Pune. Nagpur Metro | Maha Metro proposes for acquisition of 3 mt land along existing trails

Nagpur: Maha-Metro has proposed the acquisition of three meters of land along existing trails on both sides of North Ambazari Road and Wardha Road. Revealing this Dr. Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director, Maha-Metro , said that it would allow the proper development of trails and would provide a much needed vent on the roads. Against the land acquired from private individuals, an additional space index (FSI) can be provided and we have proposed the inclusion of this proposal in the Development Transfer Policy (DdD) that, in preparation of the State Government. Further explaining his idea, Dr. Dixit said that the existing trails are unusable due to the presence of utilities and that if they can be pushed further in, then we are ready to build a single identical wall that stretches in both corridors. Nagpur Metro | Maha Metro focus on completion of second stretch of the Metro Rail Project

Nagpur: The first section of the Nagpur Metro between Mihan Depot and South Airport is ready and now Maharashra Metro Rail is concentrating on the second stretch between Hingna Depot and Subhash Nagar. Maha-metro has set the goal of completing this section in August. A Maha-metro official told TOI that the construction work on the viaduct from the Hingna depot to Subhash Nagar is 50% complete.   The five stations of the section: Lokmanya Nagar, Bansi Nagar, Wasudeo Nagar, Rachana T-point and Subhash Nagar, will be put into operation by then, however the finishing will continue for a few more months, he said. After this elevated section is ready, Maha-metro will conduct a test run in this section and then invite the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) for inspection. Pune Metro | MMRCL proposes extension of Metro project to Nigdi & Katraj in first phase

Pune: The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation  (MMRCL) has proposed extending the Pimpri-Swargate Metro route to Nigdi and Katraj in the first phase. Work is underway to create a detailed project report (DPR) for the two extensions. Various social organizations and political parties have demanded that the route be extended. As a result, the Municipal Corporation of Pune (PMC) and the Municipal Corporation Pimpri Chinchwad (PCMC) wrote to MMRCL seeking a DPR. “Our consultants have already started working on the creation of the DPR, they will have to carry out a survey of the topographic, geotechnical and traffic conditions, as well as an environmental and social impact analysis. we have to study the signaling work and the rolling stock.
