Pune Metro | Activists demand PMC halt Metro flyover project at Nalstop Junction

Pune: CIVIC activists have urged Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Saurabh Rao to put the Nalstop flyover project on hold and discuss the issues they have raised. “We have written to you about our serious apprehensions and concerns regarding the proposed double-decker flyover proposed by MahaMetro at the Nalstop junction. But there has not been any response from the PMC. You may be aware that several earlier flyover projects of PMC have failed to deliver the expected results and the traffic congestion problem at the junction has remained as it is. In fact, in some cases, the problem has even got aggravated. The reasons for the failed projects are providing flyovers where not needed, faulty planning and design,” said Prashant Inamdar, convener of NGO Pedestrians First, in a letter sent last week to Rao, who was not available for comment. Pune Metro | Defense Ministry delays metro rail work in the City

Pune: While the central government is yet to transfer land for Pune Metro , delaying part of the project for months, the state government, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) have been prompt in ensuring that the required land is made available without much hassle. Officials of Maha Metro, the implementing agency for the project, said the crucial support from the three bodies has helped them push the project, but it has run into a hurdle because of the delay by the Defence Ministry. Initially, Pune Metro officials were looking for 41 hectares of land for implementing the project. Since the project started 20 months ago, the state government and the two municipal corporations have collectively handed over 33 hectares of land. Maha Metro | work stuck at Khadki, Army blames state government

Pune : On Tuesday the Indian Army blamed the Maharashtra government for the delay in sanctioning 10 acres of defence land in Khadki.  Which has stalled the work on the Pune Metro project in the area for 10 months, and also mention that the government had not offered ‘Equal Value Land’ for the required land. The Army said that it had The fast-tracked the procedure for transfer of land, but the state government had not reciprocated the gesture by offering a suitable piece of land in lieu of the land sought to be acquired, said the Army. Nagpur Metro | NMRC along with others help to complete development work in the city

Nagpur:  The Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) along with completing metro rail project will also be assisting in completing development work in Nagpur. This comes after Union Minister Nitin Gadkari asking metro officials to assist in completing development works pending in the city. Gadkari was present at the review meeting organized to oversee the status of development work in the city. He was presiding the meeting and Brajesh Dixit, the Managing Director of Maha Metro was also present. Dixit has assured Gadkari that they will complete all the development projects within a set timeframe. This step was taken after a review was conducted of various development works going on in the city. During the review it emerged that owing to shortage of funds with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) , several projects are pending. Metro rail project in Pune going on at fast pace, 21 % completion rate

Pune : Metro rail development in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad is moving on a jet-set speed. As per early estimates, 21 percent of work is completed, hinting a good physical progress of the work. This was communicated via written replay to Parliament by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The ministry asserted that progress is far better than other metro projects taking place across the country. It was in December 2016 that Pune Metro was launched. It is commendable to note that around 21 percent of civil work has been completed in about 19 months. Work has been progressing well in two Metro corridors — Vanaz to Ramwadi­ —PCMC to Swargate covering a distance of 32.25 km. Maha Metro executing the project shared that they have 90 percent possession of land in both the corridors. The officials are optimistic that will pick up additional momentum in coming days. Nagpur-Mumbai high-speed rail project to reduce travel time

Mumbai:  If things go as planned then commuters will be able to travel from Mumbai to Nagpur in 5 hours. As per reports the government plans to build Nagpur-Mumbai High-speed rail network. This news comes as a big relief for many who frequently travel between these two cities.
