Maha-metro | MMRC plans alternate route that will hike total project cost

Mumbai: After the National Monuments Authority (NMA) rejected its proposal to build a Metro rail route within the ‘prohibitory area’ of the Aga Khan Palace, a heritage structure, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRC) or Maha-Metro has proposed certain changes in the route alignment that will lead to an increase of Rs 185 crore in the project cost. In a communication to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the Maha-Metro suggested three options but recommended the second option, which proposes an alternate route. It involves diverting the route from Gunjan Chowk and increasing the length of the viaduct to an additional 0.92 km. As per the first option, the Metro route would be diverted from Kalyaninagar Metro station and it would entail a slight increase of .06 km in the length of the viaduct. Pune Metro | Activists demand PMC halt Metro flyover project at Nalstop Junction

Pune: CIVIC activists have urged Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Saurabh Rao to put the Nalstop flyover project on hold and discuss the issues they have raised. “We have written to you about our serious apprehensions and concerns regarding the proposed double-decker flyover proposed by MahaMetro at the Nalstop junction. But there has not been any response from the PMC. You may be aware that several earlier flyover projects of PMC have failed to deliver the expected results and the traffic congestion problem at the junction has remained as it is. In fact, in some cases, the problem has even got aggravated. Pune Metro | MMRCL proposes extension of Metro project to Nigdi & Katraj in first phase

Pune: The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation  (MMRCL) has proposed extending the Pimpri-Swargate Metro route to Nigdi and Katraj in the first phase. Work is underway to create a detailed project report (DPR) for the two extensions. Various social organizations and political parties have demanded that the route be extended. As a result, the Municipal Corporation of Pune (PMC) and the Municipal Corporation Pimpri Chinchwad (PCMC) wrote to MMRCL seeking a DPR. “Our consultants have already started working on the creation of the DPR, they will have to carry out a survey of the topographic, geotechnical and traffic conditions, as well as an environmental and social impact analysis. we have to study the signaling work and the rolling stock. Pune Metro | HCC has awarded a contract of ₹ 484 crore for Pune Metro Rail Project

Pune Metro: Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. (HCC) has received a contract of ₹ 484 million from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRCL) for the Pune Metro Rail Project. HCC is the main partner with a 51% stake in the joint venture with AL FARA’A. The contract is for the construction of eight elevated metro stations in Vanaz, Anand Nagar, Ideal Colony, Nal Stop, Garware College, Deccan, Sambhaji Park and PMC in Line II of the project, according to a company statement. The work includes general and structural civil works of the buildings of the station, and the architectural and site development. It is expected to be finished by 2019-final. Line II of 14.66 km will be completely elevated and will have 16 stations. This is the second order that HCC received from MMRCL for the Pune Metro.
