Lucknow Metro | LMRC Unloads The Metro Coaches After The Arrival Of The First Train

Lucknow: Lucknow Metro today unloaded the four coaches of the first train set that arrived in the Transport Nagar Depot this morning. Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, other Directors and senior officers of the company were present in the Depot during this occasion to witness this historic event. LMRC achieved a major milestone today when the company succeeded in getting the delivery of the first Metro train set in just 64 weeks after placing an order to M/s Alstom. According to the order, the contractor had to, however, supply the first train set to LMRC in 65 weeks . Hyderabad Metro | HMRL to open two sections of metro rail in next year

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy told reporters on Tuesday that eight km long stretch between Nagole and Mettuguda and 12 km between Miyapur and SR Nagar may commence commercial operations either on ‘Ugadi’ or June 2, Telangana state formation day. He said the two stretches in two different corridors were ready for operations. Asked about the delay in launching the commercial operations, he said opening two small stretches in two different corridors was not considered advisable. The official said 70 percent of the 72 km elevated project had completed. He said they were trying to sort out certain issues related to land with the railways. Construction major Larsen & Toubro, which is developing the metro project, had last month stated that it remained committed to the project and was making all efforts to complete it expeditiously. Delhi Metro | DMRC to accept old high-denomination notes till Saturday

New Delhi: Good news to Delhi Metro metro commuters. In relief to daily commuters, the government extended the use of old-high denomination currency notes of Rs 500 and 1,000 at metro railway stations till Saturday and suitable instructions given to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to comply. The government had on Tuesday, after withdrawing all Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 banknotes in circulation, announced that the old high-denomination currency would continue to be accepted for next 72 hours at certain public utilities. These include government hospitals, pharmacies in government hospitals, railway ticketing counters, ticket counters of public transport, airline ticketing counters at airports, milk booths, cremetoria/burial grounds, petrol pumps and gas stations. Kolkata: As part of its attempt to cut losses by increasing non-fare revenues, Kolkata Metro is working on a policy to let corporates brand all its 24 stations from Noapara in the north of the city to Kavi Subhash in the south. “The new scheme is called ‘Own Your Station’. Private companies, on payment of a sizeable sum, will get advertisement rights in metro stations and do a variety of branding exercises. They can also brand the stations with the name of the corporate prefixed or suffixed to the existing name,” said M C Chauhan, General Manager of Kolkata Metro. Tenders would be floated soon, he revealed. A few years ago, several prominent football clubs walked the same path to raise money. Delhi Metro | DMRC fare revision committee upheld revision of metro fare

New Delhi: In a major respite to commuters, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) today deferred its decision to hike fares. The board could not decide on hiking the fare of Delhi Metro, based on the recommendation of the Fare Fixation Committee (FCC), since the Delhi Chief Secretary K K Sharma could not attend the meeting, a source said. Mr Sharma, a member of the Board and also member of FCC, had signed the recommendations of the committee which was set up by Urban Development Ministry to recommend the hike in passenger fares for Delhi Metro. Delhi government, which was represented by the finance secretary, has sought more time to study the report, the source said. “In this scenario, DMRC chairperson Rajiv Gauba, who is also Urban Development Secretary, has no option but to defer the decision in the matter,” the source added. Lucknow Metro | LMRC starts casting of concrete segments for its underground corridor

Lucknow: The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has started work of casting of concrete segment for underground section between Charbagh and Hazratganj at Casting Yard located at Sector 19, Vrindavan Yojna. These segment will be used for lining of underground tunnel planned to be constructed by Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). The moulds used for casting of segments have been specially imported from Korea. The average daily requirement of segments at construction stage will be 60 segments (i.e. 10 rings) as against production capacity of 72 segments (i.e. 12 rings). Sufficient reserve stock of segment will be maintained at two stacking yards located within the Casting Yard. Kochi Metro | KMRL plans running of 1 train every 10 minutes

Kochi: The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd  (KMRL) plans to operate one train in every 10 minutes between Aluva and Maharaja’s College once they begin commercial operations in April, 2017. The metro agency said that during the initial phase they plan to place on track seven sets of trains, each consisting of three cars. “While six sets of trains keep running, one will be kept as stand by ,” said a KMRL official. So far Alstom, which supplies coaches for the metro, has delivered two sets of trains. “The third set is expected to arrive this month,” added the source. It is expected that the seventh set of train would be in Kochi by February , 2017. Each train is about 65 m long and have a capacity to carry up to 975 passengers. In the trial runs conducted between Muttom and Palarivattom the train started at a speed of 10 km hour and finally attained a 90 km hour. Delhi Metro | Japan government agency JICA keen to fund DMRC's phase IV project

New Delhi: JICA is keen to extend its association with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) beyond the phase III, a senior official of the agency said. New Delhi: The Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) India office Takema Sakamoto said there is a need for huge capacity expansion in public transportation and the agency is likely to discuss further association with the Delhi Metro. “For public transportation, we need huge capacity and that is why we are now discussing for the further extension for the Delhi Metro even after the phase III. The DMRC is likely to request for support for the phase IV very soon,” Sakamoto told PTI. This incident has raised some serious concerns related the security of commuters as Delhi Metro has centralised automatic train control (CATC) comprising automatic train operation (ATO), automatic train protection (ATP) and automatic train signalling (ATS) systems. “An incident occurred yesterday at 3:45 pm at Kalindi Kunj Depot of Line-8, in which a train, which was under complete control of Hyundai ROTEM for commissioning was moved perhaps inadvertently in reverse direction by the ROTEM staff,” a Delhi Metro official said. “Responsibility for the incident is of ROTEM and prima facie it appears to be negligence on part of the ROTEM staff. However detailed inquiry is being conducted by ROTEM to look into this lapse and for suitable action,” he added. Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, on Tuesday, dismissed Bharat Earth Movers Limited ’s plea against Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRCL) which had rejected its technical bid. The court observed that petitioner’s joint partner Skoda Electric lacked the necessary experience required for bagging the tender for manufacturing metro coaches. On January 25, the NMRCL invited tenders for design, manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning of passenger rolling stock (Electrical Multiple Units) and training of personnel. The requirements were — bidder should have at least 10 years experience of designing and manufacturing metro cars and established its performance and reliability for five years in minimum aggregate of 50 cars. The final condition was that the bidder should have successfully undertaken five different contracts in metros, Light Rail Transit (LRT), and suburban and high-speed railways, of at least one country outside its origin. Noida: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a record 218 U-girders which converts to approximately 3 kms of twin Metro elevated viaduct in the month of October for the Noida-Greater Noida Metro track. Moving at a super-fast pace, so far DMRC has already put into place 15 km of the viaduct out of the 29.7 km of the corridor. According to officials, DMRC launched a record 200 U-girders in the month of May this year. These girders directly bear the load of Metro tracks and the use of U-shaped ones helps speed up construction work. “However, we have now beaten our own record and put into place 218 girders this month,” said Anuj Dayal, Executive Director, Corporate Communications, DMRC. “Also, in one section of the under-construction line, which has been divided into three sections, we have launched 120 girders this month.
