Chennai Metro | Technical glitches disrupt metro services

Chennai: Last week for two consecutive days metro services were disrupted owing to glitches in signalling system. The  Chennai Metro commuters were fuming as this caused unexpected delay in travel. Metro train was stopped for more than an hour and this certainly did not go down well with metro riders. For almost thrice now, metro services were stalled due to problem in signalling system. Services have been hit due to technical glitches and this issue needs to be addressed by Chennai Metro. As reported train was stopped at regular intervals and when services were resumed the train ran at the nearly 25 kmph. How does a metro train run? Chennai Metro | Delay in supplying signal software delay the Phase 1 work period

Chennai:   The  Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) officials are worried over the completion of Phase 1. This also includes the Anna Salai Line which is part of Phase 1. The delay in supplying signal software that will facilitate metro rail functioning, may hold up completion work of the first phase of metro. CMRL is all set to conduct trial runs by September end on the 11km Washermenpet-AG-DMS stretch. This is to get the stretch ready by December for operations. Unfortunately, a German-based company given the contract for developing software is yet to hand over the technology. CMRL’s managing director Pankaj Kumar Bansal shared that the company is not responding to their request. Bansal added that all the tasks related to metro work are done. Delhi Metro | New signal system delays DMRC Phase-III Projects

New Delhi: An advanced signalling system which will run in sync with the platform screen doors and help reduce frequency and increase safety standards has delayed the opening of new lines on phase 3 of Delhi Metro . Slated to open by March 2017, the Botanical Garden and Kalkaji Mandir section of the Botanical Garden-Janakpuri West line will now be launched ahead of Diwali on October 19, 2017. Trial runs between Botanical Garden and Kalkaji Mandir had started on October 27, 2016 last year but testing of the new signalling system led to delay despite the construction work being completed by May. Mangu Singh, chief of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), called the delay a ‘setback’ but he was confident of making the section operational by October. “We really had a little setback as last year we started trial runs.
