Hyderabad: One month after its launch, the Hyderabad Metro Rail project is still stabilizing in its first phase of operation, but the administration is already preparing funds for further development. The administration is near an agreement with the German development bank KfW for a loan of Rs 1,000 crore for urban rejuvenation along with the rail metro project. “We are in talks with the German Development Bank KfW to raise around Rs. 1,000 crore for the urban rejuvenation project, without a high interest burden, say less than 2%, and a long repayment period.”, NVS Reddy said. New Delhi: Starting in March 2018, many new lines of the Delhi metro network will begin to operate. With the completion of the Phase III expansion of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, the metro rail system of the Indian capital would become the fourth largest in the world with more than 350 km of corridors. Nagpur: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has approved the proposal to increase the stamp duty by 1% in the Metro Rail corridor. Duty now will be 7.5% instead of 6.5%. The registration charge of 1% (maximum 30,000 rupees) will remain unchanged. The stamp duty on the city, except the area under the Metro corridor, will remain at 6.5%. The corridor is the area that is 500 meters on both sides of the Metro road. While the stamp duty was increased, the proposal to increase the floor to space index (FSI) in the Metro corridor is still under consideration. The government is also thinking of increasing the development charges imposed while sanctioning a building in the corridor. The decision to increase the stamp duty is very important for Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRCL) since it will get half the revenue generated by a 1% surcharge charge. The remaining 50% will go to Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) or Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) depending on the ownership of

Bangalore: The Jayadeva flyover, which has served Bengalis for 11 years, will soon be replaced by the city’s first overpass from the Silk Board junction to Ragigudda, whose plans have been developed by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited ( BMRL). The demolition of the flyover will start at the end of January. As a first step, BMRCL and other civic agencies have begun to change aerial cables and power poles to widen the road from Silk Board Junction to Ragigudda Junction at Jayanagar 9th Block, and both sides of the overpass will soon be barricaded for demolition. BMRCL has issued the work order to the contractors, Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) and URC Construction, for the construction of five elevated stations, elevated road by rail and extension of roads in the section at a cost of Rs 797.29crore, while A Mumbai based company that specializes in the dismantling of structures will handle the demolition. Mumbai: Amid controversies and oppositions, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) completed the stacking and excavation work for the Metro-3 corridor (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) this year, and tunnel work began in early November. At the beginning of the year, the MMRC placed an order for 17 tunnel boring machines (TBM) to carry out the corridor tunnel work. Of these, five have arrived in the city. The first tunnel boring machine was lowered at the Naya Nagar launch pit in Mahim in September. It took him almost 45 days to assemble the entire machine, which was lowered in three separate parts. According to the MMRC, this TBM has completed 50 meters. The machine is expected to leave Dadar in September 2018. The machines have also been downloaded at Vidya Nagari in Kalina, Azad Maidan near Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Pali Ground in Marol Naka. The tunneling work is carried out 25 meters below the surface of the earth, and the machine can cover a distance of approximately 12 meters per day.

Pune: The Pune Metro service could begin operating in parts of Corridor One within a year, officials from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MAHA-Metro) said on Wednesday. Officials cited the example of the Metro service in Nagpur, where they managed to carry out a test within 27 months of starting work on the project. “… Pune Metro will be marked in the next year, or in a little over a year,” said Brijesh Dixit, general director of MAHA-Metro. Last week, Dixit had said that work at Pune Metro was progressing at a faster pace than work at Nagpur Metro. Reiterating the statement, Dixit said that the elevated part of Corridor 1 – a distance of approximately 6 km from Pimpri to Dapodi- faced few obstacles such as land acquisition, so MAHA-Metro could complete the work faster. “For the same distance in Nagpur, we could start the test in 27 months … the real operations are probably going to start soon. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) is extending its metro train services on the eve of Cristmas i.e. 24th and 25th December 2017 till 1.00 am. Similarly, running of train services are also extended on the eve of New Year i.e. 31st December 2017 and 1st January 2018 till 2.00 am. Alstom signed an agreement with the Kazakh National Railway Company (KTZ) to acquire their 25% stake in the EKZ Joint Venture (JV). After approval by the relevant authorities, Alstom will see its total share brought to 75%. The agreement was signed by Maksat Kabashev, KTZ Strategy VP and Didier Pfleger, Alstom Senior Vice-President for Middle-East and Africa. Alstom entered the Kazakhstan’s railway market in June 2010 together with its Russian partner Transmashholding (TMH), by laying the first stone of the EKZ facility in order to build locomotives for the Kazakh network. The joint company was held by Alstom (25%), TMH (25%) and Kazakh Railways (50%). Alstom, EKZ, TMH and KTZ had signed a contract for the supply of 200 Prima T8 (KZ8A) and 95 Prima M4 (KZ4A) locomotives. The plant was inaugurated in 2012. In 2016, Alstom had acquired another 25% from KTZ. The freight locomotives are now fully assembled at EKZ, the full assembly of passenger locos will start in the beginning of 2018. “

New Delhi: In connection with incident of Delhi Metro’s driverless train in Kalindikunj depot on December 19, DMRC Chief Dr. Mangu Singh approved orders for suspension of four officials connected held primarily responsible for the unexpected incident causing damage to metro property including a train, a shunter and workshop building infrastructure. The four officials included one Deputy General Manager who was the In-charge of Kalindi Kunj depot, one Assistant Manager under him responsible for the depot activities and a Junior Engineer and Assistant Section Engineer who were involved in operating that train. The suspension is based on the enquiry done by a team of three Executive Director rank officers. New Delhi: In an unfortunate turn of events, a trial run of a driverless metro train on the DMRC’s Magenta line (Line-8) went off the rails, crashed into and broken the wall of workshop area of Kalindi Kunj depot. A driver less train (UTO) train derailed and crashed in to wall in DMRC’s Kalindi Kunj depot of Magenta Line. The Kalkaji Mandir-Botanical Garden line of the Delhi Metro, which is claimed to be reduced the travel time between Noida and south Delhi, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi  on December 25. Mumbai: Three incidents of sexual harassment of women in the Mumbai Metro were reported in the last two months and they had to wait to reach their destinations and report them. Now, women who take the Versova-Ghatkopar Metro will not only be able to report such incidents immediately, but they will also receive help through the Mumbai Metro security application, called “Metro SecuCare”. On Thursday, Mumbai Metro One became the first in the country to offer such an application to its passengers. Abhay Kumar Mishra, CEO of Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) said, “ Through the application, we can ensure immediate action at the time of an emergency and will also help prevent any misbehavior in the Metro corridor. ” The SecuCare App is developed by Eyewatch Technologies Pvt Ltd, and it allows a traveler to send an alert to the Central Security Control Room (CSCR) situated in DN Nagar and record a one-minute video. Gurugram (Gurgaon): After collecting comments on the two routes suggested by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for a new Metro line in Gurgaon, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has sent its report to the Haryana Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (HMRTC), recommending the longest route connecting the yellow line metro station HUDA City Centre with blue line metro station Dwarka  Sec-21 . Hyderabad: L&T, the concessionaire of the first phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, is not interested in starting the second phase of the project in which the Metro Rail will be linked to the Shamshabad airport. The concessionaire experience several problems with the government during the execution of the first phase. The another reason for not taking interest on further metro project could be lot of political interference in execution of this project as this project is being executed on PPP model. And now, there are even doubts about the viability of the project and, therefore, L&T is not interested in participating in the project. If L&T is not interested, the government will look for others to develop the link, probably through open tenders.
