Mr. Alain Spohr had joined Alstom Transport India on 1 September 2017 as Managing Director for India and south Asia cluster based in Bengaluru, India. As the Managing Director of Alstom India and South Asia, Mr. Alain Spohr is responsible for expanding the Alstom footprint in the country and for ensuring optimized delivery for on-going projects. Mr. Spohr brings with him over 35 years of experience and has been associated with the Alstom group in France on and off since 1982. He has since held several positions heading different business verticals and practices. In his last role, Mr. Spohr was the MD & CEO of the GE/Bharat Forge Joint Venture and the India Country Leader for Steam Power Systems at GE Power.  Under his leadership, the company executed a $150 million turbine project within stipulated time and budgets and scaled up its knowledge center in the areas of project management, engineering, construction and commissioning. Alstom and partners launch Transport Decarbonisation Alliance at ITF 2018

Alstom and partner companies, cities and countries, today assembled in Leipzig, Germany, for the official launch of the  Transport Decarbonisation Alliance  (TDA), a coalition aiming to catalyse the accelerated decarbonisation of the transport sector. The event takes place as part of the International Transport Forum (ITF), running from May 23 rd  to 25 th . With transport emissions today accounting for 25% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions, the TDA brings together leading countries, cities and companies into a “coalition of the willing” seeking to transform the global transport sector to achieve net-zero emissions before 2050. The TDA, which forms part of the 12 commitments made at the One Planet Summit hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, France in December 2017, will facilitate discussion on decarbonisation in the context of global, regional, national, local and corporate policy processes, while demonstrating that decarbonisation i...

PM Modi flags-off the first 12,000 horsepower electric locomotive in Madhepura

Madhepura (Bihar) : Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi dedicated the ‘Make in India’ Madhepura Electric Locomotive Facility to the nation and remotely flagged off the country’s first all-electric locomotive from Madhepura in Bihar on Tuesday. Manufactured in India, under a landmark Joint Venture between Alstom (76%) and Indian Railways (24%), this electric locomotive project marks a transformational step change for rail freight movement in India as well as the region of Madhepura. Alstom"s 12,000 horsepower electric locomotive 1 of 12 12,000 horsepower electric locomotive Each ‘WAG12’ double section locomotive, part of Alstom’s Prima locomotives family, is capable of hauling 6,000 tonnes, at a maximum speed of 120 km/h, thanks to its 12,000 Horsepower – allowing faster and safer movement of heavier freight trains across the country. Highlights Business Combination Agreement signed Siemens Alstom’s future Board of Directors: Siemens Managing Board Member Roland Busch to be nominated as Chairman and Alstom Lead Director Yann Delabriere to be nominated as Vice-chairman S iemens and Alstom have set the next key milestone for a champion in mobility. They have entered today into a Business Combination Agreement (BCA) regarding the proposed combination of Siemens’ mobility business, including its rail traction drive business, with Alstom. This BCA follows the  Memorandum of Understanding signed on 26 September 2017  and the conclusion of the required works council information and consultation process at Alstom regarding the proposed deal. The BCA sets forth the terms and conditions agreed upon by the two companies. Alstom to supply 54 additional Coradia Stream “Pop” regional trains to Trenitalia

26 March 2018  – Alstom has been awarded four contracts totalling around €330 million by Trenitalia, the Italian national train operator, for the supply of 54 Coradia Stream regional trains. The trains are destined for the Italian regions of Abruzzo (4 trains), Liguria (15 trains), Marche (4 trains) and Veneto (31 trains) as part of the framework agreement signed in 2016 between Alstom and Trenitalia[1]. The 54 additional trains add to the 47 trains already ordered by the Emilia Romagna region in 2016. Alstom’s Coradia Stream for Trenitalia, dubbed “Pop” by the customer, is the latest generation of trains designed for regional and intercity lines. Coradia Stream is an Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) with maximum speed of 160 km/h in the regional version. The train ordered by Trenitalia can transport morethan 300 passengers seated, offering easy accessibility thanks to its low floor. Designed to be eco-friendly, the train is 95% recycla...

This agreement remains the largest Foreign Direct Investment in the railways sector to date and has a strategic role in creating a multiplier effect on the economy. Maharashtra to frame an attractive policy for establishing that offers incentives to the companies of manufacture of coaches

Mumbai: The chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has asked the officials of the department of industries of the state to develop a policy that offers incentives to the companies of manufacture of coaches so that they establish units in Maharashtra. Fadnavis, who heads the Development Authority of the Metropolitan Region of Mumbai (MMRDA), recently asked his officials to enter into a dialogue with the companies that manufacture Metro buses. Pravin Darade ( additional metropolitan commissioner of MMRDA): “The measure is part of the ‘Make in Maharashtra’ program, and CM has directed urban development departments and industries to formulate a package that offers incentives to companies that are willing. to carry out the manufacture of rolling stock in Maharashtra.” 2. Trimble Solutions India, a subsidiary of Trimble Inc., based in the United States, launched its global portfolio of railway solutions in India. The Trimble Railways portfolio is an industry leader and covers the life cycle of railways from end to end, from planning to safety, through construction, maintenance and operations.
