Ahmedabad Metro | After Centre objects, Metro rail link to GIFT City shortened by 6 km

Ahmedabad: After the Centre objected to the proposal of extending the Ahmedabad Metro rail deep into the GIFT City campus, the route for phase-II has been shortened by over six kilometers. As per the revised detailed project report (DPR) that has been sent to the Union Ministry of Urban Development for approval, there will now be only two stations on the Metro line linking the main phase-II route with GIFT City, sources said. As per the initial plan for phase-II of the Metro project — which was approved by Gujarat government on October 2017 — the route had a total length of 34.59 km, wherein a separate line was to be built from Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) to GIFT City for providing necessary connectivity to the campus housing the country’s first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC). Hyderabad Metro | L&T to invest about Rs 2,500 crore more to complete metro

Hyderabad: Construction and infrastructure major L&T hinted at investing about Rs 2500 crore more to complete the ongoing Hyderabad metro rail project. As a concessionaire, L&T has thus far invested about Rs 13,000 crore of the Rs 14,132 crore elevated metro rail project taken up under the public, private partnership. And the Telangana Government has invested more than Rs 2300 crore for land acquisition, right of way and related infrastructure to facilitate the project completion. Of the 72 km elevated metro rail, thus far a stretch of 45 km spanning two corridors has been completed, and the stretch connecting the Hitec City, the IT hub of Hyderabad, is at the advanced stage of completion. Now through Hebbal Bengaluru Metro airport line will run

Bengaluru:  The Metro line proposed from Nagawara to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is likely to be realigned to run through Hebbal. Highly placed sources said that the realignment is being considered by the state as well as Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) due to the presence of a high-pressure Bengaluru-Mangaluru petroleum pipeline passing through the originally proposed route, thereby ruling out any construction activity in its vicinity. As per the original Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Phase-2B Metro line, the 29.62-km line was to begin at Nagawara, head to RK Hedge Nagar via Thanisandra Main Road. It was to then turn left to Jakkur Flying School and take the Ballari Main Road to terminate at the airport. Patna Metro | UDHD asks RITES to submit metro rail DPR

Patna: The state government’s urban development and housing department (UDHD) has asked Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES), to submit detailed project report (DPR). The RITES has been asked to submit DPR for Patna Metro by 20 September. RITES is the executing agency for Indian Railways and they have been asked to work on the report at the earliest. UDHD on the other hand has sent final proposal for creating Patna Metro Rail Corporation. This will be the special purpose vehicle (SPV) for implementing metro rail project in Patna. The authorities have also come to a decision that the Saguna Mor-Bailey Road- Patna Junction-Mithapur alignment be moved toward north of the central alignment of Bailey Road between Hanuman Mandir and Patna high court. Light Metro dreams stuck in red tape

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Light Metro Rail, a major infrastructure project for the development of the capital, is stuck in the red tape with the Finance Department yet to give a final approval for the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR). The DPR was submitted by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as per the new metro policy last December. Though the DMRC has withdrawn from the project, the state government proceeded with it finding new consultants. But, the tender process to identify a new consultant has not yet begun leaving the project in a complete deadlock. The Finance Department is sitting over the file for the past nine months sources said. As per the new policy, it’s the respective state governments that should submit the request for approval. Uttar Pradesh: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said the  Detailed Project Report (DPR) of proposed metro rail services in three major cities of Agra , Kanpur , and Meerut had been sent to the Centre for approval. On January 17, the Adityanath cabinet had cleared that the three proposed metro projects totaling about Rs 471 billion. The funds would be raised through share equity, debt, and borrowings from financial institutions. Agra, Kanpur, and Meerut metro rail projects would span investment of Rs 139.36 billion, Rs 183.42 billion and Rs 148.90 billion, respectively. The three metro services are projected to be operational by 2024. Yogi Adityanath said “The government was keen to expand metro services in other cities to add to the existing urban centers of Noida, Lucknow, and Ghaziabad. Firm asks for two months more to prepare DPR of Jaipur Metro Phase –II

Jaipur: The French company EGIS Rail SA preparing detailed project report (DPR) for Jaipur Metro Phase II project has sought for two months extension. The company was to submit its report on August 3 but could not meet the deadline. The DPR is for Jaipur Metro Phase-II proposed for linking Sitapura to Ambabari. With the French company seeking two months of extension, the fate of this project is sealed till next government is elected. A senior Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) official shares that the French company has already given the traffic study and environment report. They will take time to compile the entire DPR as it entails incorporating suggestions by stake holders and public. Sources in government department share that any decision with regards to Phase-II will be taken once next government comes to power. Hyderabad Metro | HMRL sets goal of 15 lakh passengers per day in the next 2 years

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metro Rail  Limited (HMRL) has set an ambitious target for itself. It aims to increase passenger footfall from the current 80,000 passengers a day to a whopping 15 lakh a day in just two years. “Ameerpet-LB Nagar stretch(16km) and Ameerpet-Shilparamam(10km) will become operational by August and November respectively. This will push ridership from the current 80,000 to 5 lakh per day,” he said. “The entire first phase of the project — excluding the 6 km stretch between MGBS and Falaknuma — would be thrown open to the public by May next year.” The stretch between Shilparamam and Raidurgam, which was earlier added to phase-I, would also be open by end of 2019, he said. “When all three corridors of Metro, covering 66 km — become operational, the ridership would go up to 15 lakh,” Reddy claimed. KMRL to submit revised DPR for Kakkanad extension to Centre

Kochi: The detailed project report (DPR) for Kakkanad extension is ready and Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) to submit the same to Center. The metro officials are set to handover the report to Urban Development Ministry to get approval. The DPR to be submitted today is for the 11-km long Kakkanad extension. The agency is getting ready to start piling for the extension starting from December this year. State sanctioned is accorded and a Government order is also issued for the same. Managing director, KMRL, A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish is expecting positive response from the central government. The metro body is geared up to begin piling work for the Kakkanad extension from end of the year. KOCHI: On Thursday the much-delayed Phase II development of the Vyttila Mobility Hub (VMH) got a major fillip as the implementing agency Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) awarded the consultancy work for the preparation of the detailed project report (DPR) to Delhi-based IPE Global Ltd. Bangalore Metro | BMRC planning questioned over land acquisition

Bengaluru: With no headway in land acquisition, Bangalore Metro officials seek bids from contractors. As per sources, three private firms are reportedly investing 100 crore each for constructing Outer Ring Road (ORR) of the metro network. These investors are investing with the hope of early completion of the work. This, after Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) showed no headway with regards to land acquisition. With this delay questions are raised on planning capabilities of metro body. BMRCL has to acquire around 35,000 square meter of land for the for the 18-km line between the Central Silk Board and KR Puram (along the ORR) to materialise. A large portion of land is needed to construct the stations with the viaducts to come up over the road medians. Delhi Metro | DMRC seeks subsidiary firm to manage last-mile connectivity

New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has proposed to establish its subsidiary company to encourage last-mile connectivity in Delhi. The Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry told the parliamentary panel. The ministry said 52 new metro feeder buses routes have been identified in five different zones which are central, east, west, north, and south. In these areas, last mile connectivity would be provided using air-conditioned or CNG buses . The government has told the panel that DMRC has planned to introduce 530 AC buses as a cluster service on gross cost model for providing feeder service in almost every part Delhi. Pune: Pune is ready to introduce two new routes for metro commuters. As Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR)  for two new routes under Pune Metro Rail Project. Nagpur: Nagpur metro phase II project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) is submitted by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited ( Maha Metro ) to state government’s Urban Development Department (UDD). The department will study the report in details and if they have any quarries they can question the DPR. After everything found Okay, then UDD will forward the DPR to state cabinet for approval. LUCKNOW: The DPR of the Blue Line of the Metro will be sent to the government on Wednesday. The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has completed its preparations. After the approval of the government, the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) will start the final survey work of Vasant Kunj from Charbagh. With this, the final alignment will also be made. Hyderabad: Telangana government has already started identifying corridors for Phase II Hyderabad Metro project with work on metro corridor Phase I nearing completion. It is expected that the work is will be wrapped by March 2019. The focus in Phase II metro corridor will be offer connectivity to airport from all corners of the city. Hyderabad Metro | Multi-level car parking tenders to be floated in July

Hyderabad: With the view to connect all the metro rail corridors to the airport in future, the Hyderabad Metro officials are soon going to invite tenders. According to report, the officials are going to float tenders for multi-level car parking (MLCP) facilities at Hyderabad Metro stations. The facility will come up at all the 42 places in the city and the tender will be floated within 15 days as per the minister K.T. Rama Rao. On Wednesday, Minister K.T. Rama Rao took a ride on the Metro rail’s 16-km section from Ameerpet to LB Nagar during a trial run operation.
