Delhi Metro | DMRC begins trial of violet line from Escort Mujesar to Ballabhgarh

Haryana: On 24 August trial runs started for the 3.2-kilometre long section from Escorts Mujesar till Ballabhgarh. After starting this section this will become the fourth city in Haryana to get Metro connectivity after Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Bahadurgarh. The section is scheduled to be opening in September or by October 2018. Which was subject to the approval by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety. This extension of Delhi Metro"s Violet line with these two stations - NCB Colony and Ballabhgarh. The total length of the violet line after the opening of this extension, the entire Kashmere Gate – Ballabhgarh Metro corridor will become 46.6 kilometers long. From next month the Indian Railways will start trials for semi-high speeds trains

New Delhi: The  Indian Railways  will start trials for indigenously-built and much-awaited semi- high speed "Train 18" from next month, a senior official of the ministry said, three months after its scheduled unveiling. Once, successfully tested, it shall be inducted in the railways fleet. The Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO), which is a technical adviser to the Indian Railways, will conduct testing and give its validation to the train. Rather than being pulled by a locomotive, "Train 18" sets are powered by traction motors fitted underneath each coach to render them self-propelled, just like metro trains. The made-in-India fleet was earlier scheduled for roll-out in June. The Train 18, which is built by Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, would promote Make in India, and is capable of running at a speed of 160 km per hour, the official said. Chennai: The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) started metro trial run in the underground line between Saidapet and AG-DMS stations on this Monday. During trial run, trains are operated back and forth to test the working of various systems of the train and the route. New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) completed the trials and testing of the 20.6 kilometre long Majlis Park- Durgabhai Deshmukh South Campus section of its Pink Line (Phase 3) on Monday. The route has also received most of the important and mandatory clearance required for the next step of inviting the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to inspect the section, including fire safety, license for working lifts, preliminary Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) reports for signalling and platform screen doors, from the department of telecommunications. According to press release, “The papers for scrutiny and detailed examination by CMRS are under submission to his office and after these are cross checked, examined and scrutinised in depth by the office of CMRS, further action is expected. In addition, since the application involves voluminous data of civil, electrical, signalling and track, DMRC may also have to supply any additional information further sought by...

Noida Metro | NMRC extends train trial run to Alpha-II metro station

Noida: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) extended metro train trial run from depot station to Alpha-II station from Friday. One month after the first test run of the Aqua metro line on the Noida-Greater Noida corridor, another test was held on Friday, this time the train travelling till Alpha-II station from the depot metro station. The four-coach test train covered nearly 2.5km at a speed of 35 km per hour during the ‘internal’ trial. It was the first time that the train has been tested outside the depot yard, where trials were being conducted since January 2. “On Friday afternoon, the train travelled from the depot (yard) and crossed three stations including depot station, Delta-I station and Alpha-II station before it returned to the depot. All went well with the extended trial. In the next few days, we will be ready to take the train further along the track,” said P. D Upadhyay, General Manager (Finance).
