Amaravati Metro | AMRC signs pact with Delhi Metro

Vijayawada: Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) had entered into an agreement with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for execution of the metro rail project. The officials of AMRC and DMRC signed the agreement for a period of four years on Monday. As per the agreement, the AMRC is the owner and administrator of the local metro rail project while the DMRC is the executing agency. The DMRC will prepare design, call for global tenders, select contractor and sign an agreement with contractor. The DMRC also will be responsible for supervision and management of works. Finally, it has to complete and handover the project in four years period. Meanwhile, the AMRC has decided to complete the construction of a station at Nidamanuru of Vijayawada rural mandal by February, 2019, to conduct first trail run of metro rail through Eluru road corridor. Delhi Metro | Now passenger can use Metro Smart Card in DTC Buses

New Delhi: DTC is set to go digital. In two months, the state transport utility is planning to roll out a smart card for buses, which can be used in the Delhi Metro as well. On Friday, DTC took the first step by using the Delhi Metro card on the electronic ticketing machines installed on its buses. As part of the project, a real-time transaction was carried out with a Metro card on the ETM of a DTC bus. The pilot project was so successful that it has prompted the bus agency to put a two-month deadline to the common card project. Said R S Minhas, spokesman for DTC, “The project is a result of the integration of the software being used in Metro and the ETMs of DTC as well as sharing the security keys of both the software.” According to the integrated system, the data of transaction will go to the central clearing house (CCH) at a particular time every day automatically, so that the transactions of the two agencies are segregated and sent to specific accounts. “Since DMRC cards are prepai

Chandigarh Metro | Chandigarh takes up land requirement with Punjab and Haryana Govt.

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Administration on Tuesday held a meeting with officials of Punjab and Haryana governments to discuss the issue of land demanded by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the ambitious Metro Rail Project. DMRC has asked all the three stakeholders to transfer around 200 acres to special purpose vehicle (SPV) called Greater Chandigarh Transport Corporation (GCTC) for generating recurring income through property development. Of the total, Chandigarh will have to contribute around 120 acres as the majority of the proposed corridors fall in its area. DMRC has also given an option to all the three stakeholders of either transferring the land or contributing Rs 1,000 crore every year towards the SPV. Out of Rs 1,000, Chandigarh will have to chip in with around Rs 750 crore. The meeting was attended by UT Adviser Parimal Rai, Finance Secretary Sarvjit Singh, Transport Secretary K K Jindal, representatives of DMRC and officials of Punjab and Haryana governments. A

Allahabad Metro | UP Govt. approves Metro Rail for Allahabad City

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government approved a new Metro Rail project for Allahabad City in last week. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Work is already underway on the Metro Rail in Lucknow and the Detailed Project Report for Varanasi and Kanpur have already been approved. UP Govt. approved metro rail project for Allahabad Akhilesh Yadav later told the media that Uttar Pradesh was the lone state in which Metro Rail projects were underway in four major cities, and Ghaziabad as well as Noida were already linked to the Delhi Metro.   New Delhi:  Delhi Metro ridership breached the 33 lakh mark on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, reaching an all time high, while during the ongoing month of August itself, nine out of the ten daily riderships records of the mass rapid transit have been logged. As many as 33,61,911 commuters availed the metro on August 17. The Airport Express line had surpassed the daily ridership mark of 50,000 for the first time last Friday. Providing the breakup, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said the ever busy Blue Line, that connects Dwaraka Sector-21 to Noida City Centre/Vaishali, recorded the highest ridership with 12,03,915 passengers. Yellow line, another busy corridor, which stretches from North Delhi’s Samaypur Badali to Gurgaon’s HUDA City Centre recorded the second highest number of commuters at 11,68,410 while 4,56,427 people took the Red Line that connects Dilshad Garden to Rithala. Lucknow Metro | LMRC Completes Pushing Truss Bridge Over Avadh Rotary

Lucknow: Lucknow Metro’s contractors for package LKCC-01 between Amausi & Charbagh completed pushing a 60m long steel truss bridge over the Avadh intersection for the 22.878 km north-south metro line!                               Pushing work                              Pushing work team Weighing 460 MT, the bridge was recently assembled just south of the Avadh rotary, and pushing work for it began on the night of August 8 by a team of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and HMM Infra. This challenging task took 4 days to complete and was achieved by applying the push-launching method using multiple rollers and hydraulic jacks. Prior to being assembled on-site, the bridge was fabricated at HMM Infra’s facility in Ambala where their engineers also performed a trial assembly. The launching activity of this 470 ton steel span over metro viaduct was a daunting task in itself as this activity was performed during night hours at a height of approximately 13 meters above the road level. Nagpur: According to NCC Ltd. successfully launched the first ever pre-cast segment for building Nagpur’s 19.658 km north-south Metro line! This particular segment was cast in May and if you notice closely, it was integrated & cast along with a parapet wall (unique in Indian metros) which has helped to reduce the cost of purchasing separate casting molds, transport individual parapet segments on-site and cut down overall construction time. Delhi Metro | DMRC starts trial runs on ITO - Kashmiri Gate corridors

New Delhi: Trial runs began from 10th July 2016 on the 5.17 kilometre long ITO – Kashmere Gate section of Delhi Metro’s violet line. This stretch will be an extension of the presently operational Escorts Mujesar (Faridabad) – ITO corridor. This entirely underground section will comprise of four stations – Delhi Gate, Jama Masjid, Lal Quila and Kashmere Gate. The Kashmere Gate station will become the first ever interchange facility of the Delhi Metro system to provide interconnectivity between three corridors of the network (violet line with red and yellow lines). During the trial runs, the interaction of the Metro train with physical infringements (civil structure) will be checked to ensure that there is no physical blockage during the movement of the train on the track.                                       Trial of Driverless metro  New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) extended its trial runs on the upcoming Janakpuri West – Botanical Garden corridor from Okhla Vihar till Kalkaji Mandir in southern Delhi. With the beginning of trial runs on this section, now trials are in progress on a 9.5 kilometre stretch from Kalindi Kunj till Kalkaji Mandir. Earlier in June, initial trial runs had started between Kalindi Kunj and Okhla Vihar stations of this corridor. Delhi Metro’s new UTO (Unattended Train Operations) enabled trains will operate on this corridor. The new trains, with extremely high levels of automation, will now undergo rigorous trials between these stations to ensure that they are ready for smooth operations after the commissioning of the corridor. Mumbai Metro | MMRDA overlooked Green clearances in Metro project: CAG

Mumbai:  The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has come down on the Mumbai Metropolitan Development Authority (MMRDA) for spending Rs. 5 crore unnecessarily crore in the construction of the Metro-II corridor in Mumbai. The CAG report has said the MMRDA appointed an independent engineer without resolving environmental issues related to the Metro-II corridor, which resulted in an ‘infructuous’ expenditure of Rs. 4.71 crore. The CAG pointed out that the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL), a fully-owned company of MMRDA, entered in January, 2011, into an agreement with a consortium of three private parties for rendering consultancy services. The scope of the consultancy’s work was to review and finalise the standard gauge rail system, conceptual designs, quality assurance programme, safety and operation plan etc. The total consultancy fee was Rs. 20.31 crore, of which five per cent was payable as an advance. Noida:  The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will assist Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) in operating and maintaining the 29.7-km-long Noida-Greater Noida Metro corridor. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between the two entities on Friday. The construction work of Noida-Greater Noida corridor is already being executed by the DMRC. The DMRC will be providing assistance to the NMRC until the later develops the expertise to operate and maintain the corridor itself. “The assistance would be rendered during the pre-commercial operation period and three years post-commercial operation period of the NMRC. The agreement may be extended with mutual consent,” a statement from the DMRC said. The construction work of the 30-km-long corridor is already being executed by DMRC on behalf of NMRC. Hyderabad: A total of 1,200 properties are still at different stages of acquisition for the Hyderabad Metro Rail . About 850 properties in Sultan Bazaar and 45 each in the three other corridors at Ameerpet, Jubilee Hills and Secunderabad. A senior government official said a GHMC committee was looking into the property acquisition. He said while those losing properties earlier wanted alternative sites, they were preferring money now. “Some of them have gone to court and the proceedings are at various stages.” A senior officer said that the claims for final settlements were not being cleared. “After notice is served on the owners, compensation must be given to them but that is taking time,” he said. In Secunderabad, the Padma Hamsa Apartments case is before the Hyderabad collector after the court cleared its acquisition. The collector has to decide how much money each apartment owner has to be paid. A total of 1,131.89 square yards of the apartments will be taken over, an officer said.

New Delhi:  The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is going to install a 3 MWp solar power plant on top of the elevated Metro stabling lines of the Kalindi Kunj depot which will cater to trains operating on the Janakpuri West – Botanical Garden corridor. DMRC to Install 3mw Solar Plant-Kalindi Kunj Depot In view of the constraints in availability of adequate land for the Kalindi Kunj depot, Delhi Metro engineers decided to construct an elevated stabling shed to accommodate Metro trains for maintenance purposes. This in itself was a major engineering achievement since, for the first ever time anywhere in Delhi Metro , an elevated shed was being constructed to counter the paucity of space and  taking this innovative approach further, DMRC has decided to utilise the available space of the roof area of the stabling shed for generation of solar power. Over 500 Km Of Metro Rail Under Construction Across Country

  NEW DELHI:  More than 500 km of metro rail project  is under construction across the country and new projects will depend on availability of funds as well as feasibility, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said today. He also told the Lok Sabha that government is not considering any change to the National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP) which provides a broad framework for development of urban transport.  “About 316 kilometres of Metro rail is under operation and more than 500 kilometres is under construction. This includes metro/mono rail systems promoted by state governments and private bodies under their own arrangements,” Mr Naidu said. During the Question Hour, he said there is a demand for having metros in different cities and decisions would be taken after taking into consideration availability of funds as well as feasibility of projects. New Delhi: An orientation and mobility workshop on the topic, ‘How to deal with visually challenged passengers’ was organized today for the operations staff of the Delhi Metro with the objective of imparting them with the necessary knowhow of attending to visually impaired passengers. Close to 150 frontline staff of the Delhi Metro comprising of Station Managers, Station Controllers and Customer Relation Assistants (CRAs) attended the workshop. As these officials interact with the passengers at the stations, the workshop was organized so that they are trained adequately to deal with the visually impaired commuters. Experts from the ‘ Blind Relief Association’ , Delhi conducted the workshop at Metro Bhawan. The workshop was focused on providing orientation and mobility to the visually impaired passengers while traveling by the Delhi Metro. Chennai Metro | 104 km, 104 stations: Unveiling Phase II of Metro

The bulk of the stretch is likely to be underground, leading to an escalation of cost from the original estimate of Rs. 44,000 crore. Chennai: Even as phase I of Chennai Metro Rail is finally becoming operational in segments, after six years of construction, phase II, stretching over 104.5 km with 104 stations, will soon be submitted to the State government for approval. Officials of RITES, the organisation that has been preparing the detailed project report for the stretch, said they will submit the document in September. “There were some delays related to traffic permissions when we conducted the surveys. Also, residents put up opposition in many areas during the survey. If Chennai Metro Rail and the State government want to make changes, then, there will be minor changes in the alignment,” an official said.
