CISF van will helpful from bomb attack in the subway, three special van ready

New Delhi: To protect Delhi Metro from terrorist attacks, CISF has prepared three special vans. The vans are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment used to inactivate the racial attack. It is believed that the van has been deployed after repeated inputs of terror attacks by intelligence units. Security officials says that the van will help in perfecting the safety of the metro. These vans will be sent on the spot to help the security forces during the chemical attack. Bomb disposal and detection squads of Central Industrial Security Force, who took over the security of the Metro, will oversee this van. The specialty of Bomb Disposal and Detection Van is that it will combine the identification of the bomb and the equipment which is inactive. Delhi Metro | Metro Smart Card is applicable in all buses just for name

New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched new to the passengers to use its "Metro Smart Card" in the public transport owned by the Delhi Government to make the travel smooth and easier for the passengers. However, Delhi Metro has excluded this facility for the last mile connecting "Metro feeder" buses. The recent report was found that out of 174 buses not even a single feeder bus has the facility to purchase tickets using the metro smart card. Surprisingly, the "Common Mobility card" is still a distant dream for the metro feeder buses as these buses are yet to be equipped with the "Electronic Ticketing Machines". There are currently total 174 fleets affiliated with Delhi Metro and these ply on around 42 routes. Metro has allotted four depots at Yamuna Banks, Chattarpur, Paschim Vihar West and Azadpur. Chennai: Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has joined hands with IT firm Infosys, an effort to cut down the number of cars on roads and encourage use of public transport. According to the deal, employees of Infosys will now have office buses taking them from the Alandur metro station to their facility at Mahindra World City. Plans are on the anvil to offer this facility to Infosys employees who work out of the Sholinganallur office. The idea behind this initiative was to promote the use of public transportation. In the coming weeks, Infosys employees in Sholinganallur can also avail this facility. They can take the train and reach a certain point, and from there the office buses will pick them to work, said CMRL official. In a surprise move, PM travels in Delhi metro to avoid traffic

New Delhi: Delhi Metro commuters were in for a surprise when they saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelling along with them. PM took Delhi’s Airport Express Metro from Dhaula Kuan to Dwarka on September 20. He was on his way to lay the foundation stone of India International Convention and Expo Centre. The ride as per metro officials was completed in straight 14 minutes. During the travel PM met commuters, interacted with them and also obliged with photographs. Commuters were very happy to see PM travelling along with them and talking to them. Many also took selfies with him. As per DMRC’s senior official, PM commuted in Delhi Metro"s Airport Express Line. He boarded a metro train at Dhaula Kuan Metro Station at 3:13 pm and travelled up to Dwarka Sec-21 Metro Station, leaving the station at 3:27 pm. During the inaugural event, PM shared that the project is estimated to be around 26,000 crore. It will emerge as the centre of energy and attitude of 80 crore youth in the country.

Delhi: Once the Delhi Metro Pink Line of Mayur Vihar Station will open, travelling between East to South Delhi will be easy. The interchange facility will help daily commuters in a big way. Pune: The wait is finally over with Defence Ministry finally giving go ahead to transfer land in Khadki stretch. The ministry has given green signal after 10 months to transfer 10 acres of land for Pune Metro project. This will be coming up in Khadki area of Pune. The proposal was sent by MahaMetro around 10 months back. It is now that the Defence Ministry has given a go-ahead to transfer the land to the metro body. As per information, land transfer proposal has been approved but alternative land to be given is yet to be decided. The good news was shared by managing director, Maha Metro Brijesh Dixit. Bangalore Metro | Security man demands riders to speak in Hindi

Bengaluru: A commuter travelling in Bangalore Metro had a rather bizarre experience. A security staff member stationed at Lalbaugh Metro Station demanded a senior IT manger to speak in Hindi with him. This was a rather ‘rude behaviour’ which caught the commuter off-guard. The incident took place when a senior manager from well-known IT firm was travelling in metro. He was not very happy when a security staff member put up unruly demand. The agitated commuters logged a complaint with customer care and ticketing staff as well. Going a step further he also conveyed the incident to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) top officials. Hazrat Nizamuddin metro station to be a major transit hub

New Delhi: The Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro station on the Majlis Park – Shiv Vihar Pink corridor of Delhi Metro’s Phase 3 will be one of the Metro network’s major transit hubs as the station would provide direct connectivity with the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station as well as the Sarai Kale Khan Inter State Bus Terminus. The station will have dedicated entry/exit points connecting to the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway station and the ISBT at Sarai Kale Khan. One of the entry/exit points will be within a vicinity of 50 metres from the Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. Another entry/exit will be near the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway station approximately at a distance of 150 metres. Indore: It has emerged as the favored bidder to build a 5.3 km stretch of the upcoming metro rail system in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, said Dilip Buildcon . The development start to come barely a month after DBL was declared the lowest bidder for the Bhopal Metro project in the state. This current bid is to build an elevated viaduct between the ISBT flyover and Mumtaj Bag Colony, excluding the stations. Dilip Buildcon offered to build the track for Rs 229 cr. Even though Dilip Buildcon is lowest bidder it is not clear whether bids for contract for the construction of the metro station have been handed out or not. The total time period for construction of elevated track will be approximate 27 months. Delhi Metro | New centralized online monitoring of lifts and escalators to start

New Delhi:  Delhi Metro commuters often complain about escalators stop moving suddenly or remain out of use for days. Now, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is planning a centralized online monitoring of all the escalators as well as elevators, which number over 1,500 across the entire Delhi Metro network. The central command center will be notified immediately about any glitch and the concerned station control room will be intimated to fix the problem right away. Initially, it is being implemented on the 59 km long Pink Line between Majlis Park and Shiv Vihar, which is also the longest corridor of Delhi Metro. The line covers 38 metro stations, which have 135 elevators and 215 escalators. Out of these, 56 elevators and 106 escalators are already being used by the public and the balance equipment will be made available on the opening of the other sections for revenue operation later this year, the report stated. Mumbai: Looks like the case of double trouble for the Airport Line. As per sources this line may hit a roadblock as well. The reason being that execution delay in the CST-Panvel elevated corridor which is likely cause a setback. Lucknow: The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has achieved another milestone while completing the work for the underground section between the Charbagh Metro station ramp & the K. D. Singh Stadium Metro station ramp by completing the track laying work in the UPLINE tunnel of this underground section. LMRC is using the Mass Spring System (an elastomer pad of 25mm thickness) below the track bed for construction of track. Mass Spring System, procured from Austria, eliminates the problem of vibration and sound in adjoining structures of the underground portion. For the construction of track, first of all the Elastomer Mass Spring System sheet is laid, then reinforcement mesh is laid over this and then it is filled with concrete up to the rail bottom. Rails are wielded continuously to avoid any joint in the rails. RRTS | Delhi Government rejects Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor

New Delhi: The Delhi Government has rejected the Delhi- Meerut  RRTS corridor,   National Capital Region Transport Corporation"s (NCRTC) proposal to build an elevated station at Sarai Kale Khan. The Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) aims to reduce travel time between the two cities to just 55 minutes. The construction of the station would delay the redevelopment project of the existing Sarai Kale Khan inter-state bus terminal (ISBT) by more than two years. The Sarai Kale Khan station was supposed to be the starting point of the RRTS line from Delhi. However, State Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot returned the file on September 12 saying that the government would approve the station only if it"s according to the previous plan in which the station was designed to be underground, said Delhi government.   While changing the station"s design, the Delhi government was not kept in loop by the NCRTC. Jaipur:  The Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), Mumbai conducted a trial run last week. With this process completed Jaipur Metro is likely to run on Automatic Train Operation (ATO) mode soon. This was a much awaited request from the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) . The metro authorities had sent an application to CMRS requesting them to carry inspection between Mansarovar to Chandpole. The request was made to upgrade metro operation from Automatic Train Protection (ATP) to ATO. This request will finally see the light of the day if things go as planned. Chennai Metro | CMRL to begin phase II, will not wait for Centre’s nod

Chennai: Sources with Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) suggests that the metro body will not wait for center’s approval for Phase II work. They are likely to kick-start the project as soon as the first tranche of a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is disbursed. CRML is confident about starting construction work for Phase II. The first tranche loan from JICA will meet the requirement. In case of shortage of fund, the state government will pitch in. As per the procedure, there are two levels of approvals required to begin one. The first level is needed before approaching JICA that permission has already been given by the center. Then there is the second level of approval needed to begin work. The CMRL will not have to wait for this approval once JICA releases the funds. The Metro officials are hopeful that JICA will send in final sanction within a month or two. Once CMRL receives funds from CMRL, they will start the construction work. CMRL will proceed with

Pune: While the central government is yet to transfer land for Pune Metro , delaying part of the project for months, the state government, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) have been prompt in ensuring that the required land is made available without much hassle. Officials of Maha Metro, the implementing agency for the project, said the crucial support from the three bodies has helped them push the project, but it has run into a hurdle because of the delay by the Defence Ministry. Initially, Pune Metro officials were looking for 41 hectares of land for implementing the project. Since the project started 20 months ago, the state government and the two municipal corporations have collectively handed over 33 hectares of land. Mumbai Metro | Two metro projects get Maharashtra cabinet nod

Mumbai: On September 11, Maharashtra cabinet gave its approval for implementing two Mumbai metro projects. The nod has come for the Andheri - Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (CSIM) airport and Dahisar- Mira Bhayander projects. The estimated cost of both the projects is around Rs 6,607 crores. As per the official from the Chief Minister"s Office (CMO) Metro 7A will be Andheri-CSIM airport route. On the other hand Metro 9 line will Dahisar-Mira Bhayander route. Both the Mumbai Metro routes together will be 13.5 Km. Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has been authorized to raise funds for both the routes. As per the plan, Dahisar-Mira Bhayander route will be 10.41 km long. This stretch will have 11 stations and built on the elevated corridor. The extension of Metro 7 Andheri-CSMI airport (Metro 7 A) will 3.17 km long in which 2.11 km will be constructed underground. L&T gets repayment extension for Hyderabad Metro project

Hyderabad: L&T gets an extension on repayment deadline from financial lenders for Hyderabad Metro Rail project. The company is also in talks with state government relating to the escalating project cost. Hyderabad Metro is heading towards completion by March 2019. This is almost a year and a half after the preliminary programmed schedule of July 2017. The lenders have given L&T more time for commercial operation up to July 2019, with a corresponding enhancement in loan stage. As per the schedule revised, L&T will start repayment of the loan from 30th September 2020. With this extension corresponding cost delays is also estimated for claiming compensation, based on the L&T"s annual statement to its shareholders. Looking at the cost of implementing the 72km rail project, the estimated cost comes to ₹16,375-crore for the elevated metro rail project. Patna: The state government’s urban development and housing department (UDHD) has asked Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES), to submit detailed project report (DPR). The RITES has been asked to submit DPR for Patna Metro by 20 September. RITES is the executing agency for Indian Railways and they have been asked to work on the report at the earliest. UDHD on the other hand has sent final proposal for creating Patna Metro Rail Corporation. This will be the special purpose vehicle (SPV) for implementing metro rail project in Patna. The authorities have also come to a decision that the Saguna Mor-Bailey Road- Patna Junction-Mithapur alignment be moved toward north of the central alignment of Bailey Road between Hanuman Mandir and Patna high court. Chennai:  The  Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) will be carrying out inspection the of 21km elevated corridor. The test will be conducted to understand the structural strength of the work. This is to check the stability of elevated metro corridors that constructed across two arterial roads. CMRL will soon carry on ut inspection drive of the constructed structures. To carry out the inspection work, Chennai Metro officials are trying to identify firms with expertise. The selected firm will investigate, inspect and prepare a report and offer suggestions if any. Mumbai Metro | French MNC Alstom’s to supply 31 trains line-3

Mumbai: Well-known firm Alstom, a French MNC will be supplying 31 trains for the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited . They will be making 248 metro cars at their manufacturing unit in Sri City located on the outskirts of Chennai. These trains will be used for Mumbai Metro Line 3. The French MNC has bagged a contract worth around 315 million euros (Rs 2633.63 crores). This contract is the biggest order for rolling stock contract for Alstom in Indian operation. Alstom manufacturing unit is based some 73 km from Chennai. Alstom’s engineering unit in Bangalore will be designing and developing the metro cars. Jaipur Metro | JMRC’s claim to conserve rain water ambiguous

Jaipur: As per the latest Comptroller and Auditor and General of India (CAG) report, Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation’s (JMRC) claim of rain harvesting was found misleading. The metro body claims to have built a Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) structure along with ducts on 9.25 corridors between Mansarovar and Chandpole. This claim however was found to be misleading by the CAG. JMRC had claimed to conserve rain water via RWH plant. As per reports the construction work of 255 (RHW) pits was part of main construction work via ducts in the Jaipur project itself. Reports point out that only 29 RWH were built by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) till August 2017. Furthermore, these pits are not made as per approved designs and drawings. Ironically, these 29 structures were not operational even after operationalisation of phase- IA. As per sources JMRC was continuously following it up with DMRC to rectify the RWHs. Chennai: Recently the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has appointed two new consultants. Which are Consulting Engineers Group CEG-AECOM consortium and Systra , a France-headquartered company to carry out the detailed design work for Phase II. The companies have been entrusted with preparing the detailed design for the two major corridors in Phase II — Madhavaram to CMBT and Madhavaram to Shollinganallur via Purasawalkam and Mylapore — that will be constructed first, according to official. New Delhi: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has decided to give the responsibility to NITI Aayog to review the progress of standardization and indigenization of metro rail system. Metro rail system is being set up all over the country. According to the Ministry, the purpose of this initiative is to speed up the government"s "Make in India" campaign for the implementation of metro rail projects in the states. An official said that the standard of the engine compartment, signal system, and telecommunication system has been standardized. Hyderabad: A year and a half ago started the Hyderabad metro rail project poised for completion by March 2019. The lenders take more time than usual in construction major L&T more time for commercial operation up to July 2019, with a corresponding increase in loan period. From 30 September 2020, the loan repayment will start as per the revised schedule, the metro rail project, being implemented by concessionaire L&T. Even though the corresponding cost implication due to delays in securing the right of way to implement the project is being assessed for claiming compensation, according to L&T"s annual statement to its shareholders.
