Hyderabad Metro | Traffic congestion caused by metro work under check

Hyderabad:  People living around Cyberabad near the metro rail can now rejoice since traffic will be the least of their inconveniences. Following inspections at areas between Cyber Towers and Raheja Mindspace junction by DGP, Mahendar Reddy, MD, HMR NVS Reddy , Commissioner, GHMC Dana Kishore, and other senior officials, important decisions were taken in a review meeting to help smooth completion of Metro Rail without causing inconvenience to the people. Directed by Minister for Municipal Administration KT Rama Rao in a high-level meeting earlier, broad decisions were taken yesterday after a joint inspection and a review meeting. The outcome of the meeting was to help in immediate road improvement works and finding alternatives to execute Metro Rail works with least inconvenience to road users. Ahmedabad Metro | Experts confused for parking facility at metro stations

Ahmedabad: Urban planners are themselves confused about lack of adequate parking facility at the Ahmedabad metro rail station. It is expected that on 30% stations will have proper parking system. Out of 32 stations, only 8 stations will have a proper parking system whereas, Two other stations, Gandhigram and Sabarmati, will share parking facilities with the railways. One urban planner, Utpal Sharma, feels that the provisions are inadequate, while another, Shivanand Swamy, says “parking should be arranged for only at the terminal stations.” Sharma said, “We need more parking facilities to convert road vehicle commuters into metro rail passengers. In Ahmedabad, there are few stations where there can be parking facilities. I personally feel that no survey for parking requirements have been carried out.” Authorities are also speaking to traffic police for understanding more about different areas and it’s traffic condition. Mumbai Metro | Soil testing initiated by MMRDA for Metro 4 corridor

Work has begun in full swing for the metro corridor connecting Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has started soil testing work  near Bhakti Park at Wadala. The metro officials are also planning traffic diversion running along the metro corridor route. The Mumbai Metro 4 corridor work is a huge project and will be constructed concurrently in five packages. Contractors for the project have already been appointed in March by the authorities. As per the MMRDA officials soil testing is conducted to estimate the condition of the soil before the construction work begins. This process is initiated before the piles are erected for the construction of the corridor. Once this process is done, the next step will be to identify utilities underneath the soil.
