Mumbai Metro | MMRDA confirmed the contract for 378 metro coaches to be finalised

Mumbai: The contract for 378 coaches (rolling stock) for three metro lines will be finalized by the end of this month, confirmed the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) . The coaches are being procured by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) , the nodal agen-cy for metro 2A (Dahisar to D.N. Nagar); metro 2B (D.N. Nagar to Mandale); and metro 7 (Andheri east to Dahisar east). “The contractor for purchasing the rolling stock will be finalized by the end of this month. The financial bids will be opened and the cost will be analyzed before awarding the contract,” said Pravin Darade, additional metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA . Mumbai metro | Children below 12 can travel in for Rs 5 during weekends

Mumbai:   The Reliance Infrastructure-led Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) has announced a promotional fare for children below the age of 12 years. The long-lasting decision over increasing of ticket fares of Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro-1 was stuck for almost four years now. Now children will be able to travel at a discounted price of Rs 5 for single journey during weekends. The existing fares are Rs 10, 20, 30, and 40. The children can become ambassadors for the Mumbai Metro services, and it is a special bonanza to mark the festive season, said metro operator. According to the announcement, a child below the age of 12 will be able to ride in the Metro - on Saturday and Sunday - at a discounted fare of just Rs 5. However, return journey will be charged Rs 10. Mumbai Metro | Protest against elevated Metro 2B, on October 5

Mumbai: On October 5 approximate 10,000 residents between Bandra and Andheri are expected to form a human chain to mark their protest against the elevated construction of Metro 2B line from D N Nagar.  They are demanding for  an underground Metro line, claiming it is better suited along the stretch, they are expected to stage a protest on the S V Road in Santacruz. Residents of Juhu Vile Parle Development (JVPD) Cooperative Housing Association, Gulmohar area. The society welfare group and the Balabhai Nanavati Hospital in the city have filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Bombay High Court to oppose the proposed alignment of the Metro 2B line, being executed by the Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). Mumbai: There is a plan to permit taller buildings and allow additional buildable space to construction firms developing properties around Mumbai’s public transport corridors has been put on hold for now. The contentious proposal won’t be a part of Mumbai’s new development control regulations, for now, the new rules will kick in from September 1, said the government official. The Mumbai municipality has drafted the city’s new Development Plan (DP) which was later rejected to the idea of providing higher floor space index (FSI) around transit corridors. The Maharashtra government had been continuously pushing it in order to raise resources for Metro rail routes. The Floor Space Index, which is known as Floor Area Ratio one of the development tools that define the extent of construction permissible on a plot. Monorail | Staff and Employees halt the work until their salary releases

Mumbai:   The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) from 1 September plans to restart the Chembur-Wadala services of the monorail.  The work of Monorail is stuck in limbo when the employees of the operator have refused to resume duties. They mention that they will start work only after the last two months payment release. None of the employees would work until the unpaid salaries are cleared. The MMRDA would shell out advance payment to LTSE consortium to help them clear payments. In November, the Maharashtra government shut down the controversial Mumbai monorail service after the safety of commuters was endangered by a series of mishaps and technical glitches, including a fire in one of the trains. Monorail | The operational cost of Mumbai Monorail to raise up to 130%

Mumbai: India’s only Monorail operational cost to more than double as per latest development. There is an expected 130% hike in the per-trip cost of operation from ₹4,600 to ₹10,600. Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) panel has suggested increasing the per-trip fare. A panel was constituted by MMRDA on August 15 to bring closure to the deadlock between monorail operator and MMRDA over per-trip expense. After discussions and deliberation, the committee has in its report suggested on increasing the per-trip cost to ₹10,600 from ₹4,600. MMRDA was already incurring losses while operating the 8.9-km section of the monorail between Chembur and Wadala (Phase-1). Ironically, with panel suggesting a hike in per-trip fare, MMRDA will feel a further dent. The state agency will be incurring additional losses if the fare is implemented. Monorail | MMRDA spends more then it generate RTI report reveal

Mumbai: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has to pay a higher trip rate for operating the country’s monorail corridor. When next month its services resume , MMRDA will also have to bear with another huge expenditure so that they can provide security for the 8.9-km corridor. The Right to Information Act, 2005, informs that MMRDA had to shell out more money on the corridor’s security than the revenue it rakes in from the service. In the first six months of the 2017-18 fiscal, when the monorail was operational, the revenue generated was a mere 62% of the expenditure borne by MMRDA for security. A senior official said that between 2014 and 2016, the MSSC had deployed 331 security personnel at stations and the depot. The deployment was reduced to 243 personnel from July 2016. Mumbai:   Good news for all the employees of Larsen & Toubro-Scomi Engineering (LTSE). Since long-lasting deadlock between the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and its monorail contractor a consortium of Larsen & Toubro-Scomi Engineering (LTSE) for trip rates is likely to be resolved soon as per official information. In last week MMRDA"s one-member committee submitted its report. Mr. Rajeev Metropolitan Commissioner said that the report has been submitted and now we hope that LTSE will accept its recommendations. It has suggested increasing the trip rate. We will disclose the figure only after they agree to it. Mumbai: The Integrated Ticketing System (ITS) for all modes of public transport in Mumbai and its satellite towns is likely to become reality in the next six months as chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and railway minister Piyush Goyal, on Thursday, overcame the final hurdle, which was the mode of payment. Mumbai: Mumbai residents have decided to on the poll issue they will target the government ahead of 2019 elections. Over 10 lakh residents, a sizable vote bank have come together and have made it clear that they will use Metro 2B line as a poll issue. A meeting was organized on Sunday in which residents from Juhu, Bandra, Santacruz, and Khar assembled at  Jamnabai Narsee School in JVPD. They met to work out a plan involving auto rickshaw and taxi unions as well as Advanced Locality Management (ALMs) and residents’ groups in their movement. Mumbai: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) , Mumbai-2A and Mumbai Metro-7 corridor got seven firms bidders from National and International. A new tender opening for 378 metro coaches from the Dahisar to DN Nagar Metro-2A and Andheri (East) to Dahisar (East) Metro-7 corridor were recently opened in Delhi. Monorail | MMRDA to re-start Monorail services from Chembur to Wadala

Mumbai: There is good news for people dwelling near Chembur and Wadala area. Monorail services are to re-start from Chembur to Wadala, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced its re-starting date which is on September 01, 2018. But till now there are only three trains out of the total nine are available. The MMRDA is expecting to get at least two more trains fit to play in the next 15 days. The official sources said that to maintain a frequency of 15 minutes, three trains are not enough. This also signifies that the frequency of Monorail services hardly to be better than before. According to the plan, there is a need to have four coaches in each monorail train, and it was estimated to have ferry around 15,000 passengers daily between Chembur and Wadala. Mumbai: The contract award of worth Rs 1,300 crore has been given to a contractor who has been banned by the BMC for seven years on grounds of corruption and shoddy. This contract has been awarded by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which is also consulting the MMRDA on the work the Mumbai Metro 2A project from Dahisar to DN Nagar . Centre Govt. says longest Metro Rail network under construction

New Delhi: Recently data released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs shows that state has 233-km of Metro railway network under construction. This also includes under construction work of Metro corridors being built in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. This data state that at presently nine state are running Metro project but none of them have such longest corridor. Total Metro corridors is of 233-km out of which Mumbai alone has around 163-km. Mumbai: Monorail which comes under Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) . Now contractors of this are demanding higher trip rate for resuming the services on Phase I. Mumbai: Application for Height exemption permission to install overhead cables forMumbai Metro Rail Junction has been withdrawal by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).  Height clearance granted in March would cause no safety issues for Juhu Aerodrame, said Airport Authority of India (AAI). MMRDA mainly took decision to withdraw application after this statement of AAI. Metro 2B route which is passing through a funnel area of Juhu Aerodrome, along SV road in santacruz, MMRDA wanted height exemption for part of elevated corridor.
