Kolkata Metro | BEML to supply futuristic rakes for metro

Kolkata: Commuters in Kolkata will soon get the ‘bullet train’ experience. The new set of rakes for the Kolkata’s East West Metro corridor of Kolkata Metro will receive futuristic rakes. These will be supplied by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML). As per news these rakes will have Bullet Train like features. The brand new coaches from BEML will be technologically advanced. These will look like bullet train but made of aluminium instead of steel. All the 14 six coach rakes will have futuristic features and promises to give a bullet train like feel to commuters. Kolkata Metro, country’s oldest underground rail system. Initiated in 80’s, the metro services are the lifeline of city’s transportation. The network is expanding and ushering in modernisation. Now it soon will boost of having Bullet Train like rakes for its East-West metro corridor. High Speed Rail | BEML awaiting for clarity on indigenization of Bullet train.

Bengaluru :    Bharat Earth Movers Limited  (BEML) is waiting clarity on the indigenization of the proposed Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train. Indigenization of coaches comes under the Central government’s ‘Make in India’ program. At initial stage assemble of the coaches for the bullet train project will be done. At later stage local production will be looked by state-owned company. BEML Chairman and Managing Director D K Hota said, “We are keen in the indigenization of bullet train coaches. BEML had tied up with Japanese company Hitachi in this regard. There is nothing final yet on the quantum of the indigenization project or total order for the coaches." On yesterday he was in the city to sign a MoU with Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd for cooperation in manufacturing of high-value mining equipment. Kolkata: The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation has unveiled new metro train received from BEML Bangalore on Wednesday which arrived reached in Salt Lake metro depot from Bangalore early on Saturday. The six coaches train had come on trailers, covering a distance of more than 2,000km, were unloaded with the help of 300 kg Heavy Duty Crane at at the Salk Lake Metro depot of Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC). The coaches were then assembled and shunted via rail-track by a Rail-cum-Road Mover (RRM). Kolkata Metro | KMRCL gets six-car standard gauge metro train from BEML

Bengaluru: The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) has received the first set of six-car metro train unit from Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) on Saturday. In an official release D K Hota, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML said that they delivered the unit to A K Kundu, Director, Rolling Stock, KMRCL, at a function organised in the city. Kolkata Metro Train Interior View KMRC had awarded the contract worth nearly Rs 900 crore for supply of 84 standard gauge metro cars (14 trains) to BEML for its East-West Metro Line through an international competitive bidding.The carrying capacity of each rake is 2,068 passengers and it has a maximum operation speed capability of 80 kmph. “BEML is providing world class metro coaches to urban metro transport. The state-of-the-art metro trains are indigenously designed, developed and manufactured by BEML. Bengaluru: After inordinate delay and cost escalation, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) got three additional coaches from the state-run Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) on Wednesday for its east-west corridor service, with one coach reserved for women. “The three additional coaches will be added to an existing three-coach metro train, allowing more number of passengers to travel by the metro. The first coach of the new six-coach metro train is to be reserved for women and children. These additional coaches will help in de-congesting the city roads,” the CMD of BEML Deepak Kumar Hota told reporters here. The three additional coaches will be added to a metro train on the purple line that runs between Baiyappanahalli, an eastern suburb, and Mysore Road in the southwestern part of the city. “After integrating and rigorous testing, passengers can travel by the six-coach metro by the end of April or early May,” the MD of BMRC Mahendra Jain said. Hitachi seeks tie-up with BEML for bullet train projects of India

Japanese company Hitachi will form a technological partnership with an Indian state-owned company as part of efforts to win orders for the South Asian country’s first bullet train railroad . The tie-up between the Japanese conglomerate and BEML, one of India’s top suppliers of subway train cars, could eventually lead to local production as a joint venture. The governments of Japan and India have already agreed to adopt Japanese Shinkansen bullet train technology for a high-speed railway spanning roughly 500km between Mumbai and the western state of Gujarat. Bidding for the project by India’s national high-speed rail company is expected to start soon. Hitachi, with a tack record of building bullet train cars, is seen as a strong candidate for supplying them. The project is estimated to cost around 1.8 trillion yen ($16.4 billion). Construction is expected to start this year , with the service likely to launch in 2023. A number of Japanese c...

Bengaluru: It is good news for Namma Metro commuters that the much-awaited additional coaches for Bangalore Metro trains have almost arrived. The Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) is likely to deliver the first set (three coaches) to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) on February 14. “BEML will hand over the first three coaches to BMRCL on 14 February in the presence of Bengaluru development minister K J George. We will have to integrate the new coaches into an existing train and conduct test runs. The first six-car train will commence operations after clearance from railway safety authorities. We are expecting these procedures will be completed at the earliest and be ready for commercial operations by March,” BMRC MD Mahendra Jain said. Maharashtra to frame an attractive policy for establishing that offers incentives to the companies of manufacture of coaches

Mumbai: The chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has asked the officials of the department of industries of the state to develop a policy that offers incentives to the companies of manufacture of coaches so that they establish units in Maharashtra. Fadnavis, who heads the Development Authority of the Metropolitan Region of Mumbai (MMRDA), recently asked his officials to enter into a dialogue with the companies that manufacture Metro buses. Pravin Darade ( additional metropolitan commissioner of MMRDA): “The measure is part of the ‘Make in Maharashtra’ program, and CM has directed urban development departments and industries to formulate a package that offers incentives to companies that are willing. to carry out the manufacture of rolling stock in Maharashtra.” 2. Jaitley launches BEML’s third line ultra modern metro manufacturing facility

Bengaluru: Defense Minister Arun Jaitley today launched BEML’s third Line ultra modern metro manufacturing facility to enhance the production of metro cars for the forthcoming metro projects in India. Earlier in the morning, he inaugurated the indigenously designed and developed biggest ever diesel excavator BE1800D and crawler dozer BD475-1 and T-72 hull, meant for fitting into tanks, at Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) unit of Bharath Earth Movers Limited. Later, a number of organisations and local leaders including Kolar MP Muniyappa submitted memoranda against disinvestment of BEML . Speaking to reporters, Muniyappa said he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon to convince him against it.
