Bangalore:  The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has came out with its initial message for the properties that will be needed for the outer ring road (ORR) line. Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Tuesday notified tenders to build the KR Puram-Silk Board (Outer Ring Road) line . Recently, the state cabinet approves funding for this 17-km fully elevated Metro line . The tender has been released as three packages, each one consisting of viaduct (the series of arches on which rail tracks are laid) and station work. Package 1 has called for constructions between Silk Board and Bellandur (four Metro stations) running to a length of over 7 km at a cost of Rs.427.29 crore. Bangalore Metro | State cabinet allocates Rs 5000 crore for Namma Metro projects

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Government has allocated around Rs 5,000 crore as its share towards ongoing Phase-II projects of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRC) in budget. The government also made public the proposed length and route of Metro Phase-III for the first time. According to a BMRC official, “The state has given us a contribution of nearly Rs 5,000 crore. We had requested for Rs 5,600 crore in this year’s budget.” The sum will be utilised towards ongoing Phase-II works.” The 72.1 km Phase-II is an extension of all the four Phase-I lines as well as two new lines from Nagawara to Gottigere and the R V Road to Bommasandra line. The entire project costs Rs 26,405 crore out of which 55% is provided jointly by the Centre and the state and 45% is taken as loans. The Union budget also allocated funds for BMRC. This is the highest ever budgetary allocation for BMRC in the state budget. In 2016, it was earmarked Rs 1,881 crore, while in 2017 it was allo...

Bengaluru: The State Cabinet on Thursday gave its nod for floating tenders for the metro project linking Silk Board and K.R. Puram, under Phase 2 (A). It also accorded approval for innovative financing initiatives of Bangalore   Metro Rail Corporation Limited to raise money. The BMRCL had signed an MoU with Intel India and Embassy Group to raise funds for construction of two metro stations at Kadubeesanahalli and Bellandur. The Cabinet decision will help the BMRCL to reach an agreement detailing terms and conditions with corporate entities based on the MoU. The two corporate bodies have agreed to contribute ₹100 crore each to BMRCL payable in instalments, and they will get naming rights for a period of 30 years. In other words, the corproate’s name will be prefixed to that of the station, like Embassy Kadubeesanahalli metro station. Bengaluru: After inordinate delay and cost escalation, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) got three additional coaches from the state-run Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) on Wednesday for its east-west corridor service, with one coach reserved for women. “The three additional coaches will be added to an existing three-coach metro train, allowing more number of passengers to travel by the metro. The first coach of the new six-coach metro train is to be reserved for women and children. These additional coaches will help in de-congesting the city roads,” the CMD of BEML Deepak Kumar Hota told reporters here. The three additional coaches will be added to a metro train on the purple line that runs between Baiyappanahalli, an eastern suburb, and Mysore Road in the southwestern part of the city. “After integrating and rigorous testing, passengers can travel by the six-coach metro by the end of April or early May,” the MD of BMRC Mahendra Jain said. Bengaluru: It is a very surprising news that four infrastructure firms have emerged as the lowest bidders for the underground package-2 but the total value (if all four bids are added) is about 65% to 75% higher than the estimate of Rs 5,047 crore of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC). Larsen & Toubro, Gulermak, Afcons Infrastructure and Italian-Thai Development have offered a package each on the 14 km (approximate) Dairy Circle-Nagawara underground section of BMRC’s 21-km line-4 (Reach 6) of the 72-km project. Bids for this stretch’s civil works, called in June 2017, were opened on Friday. According to Raj Kumar Duggar, a Vasant Nagar resident, “The lowest bids received by BMRC amount to Rs 8,553 crore. The amount which will be “lost” if the lowest bids are accepted works out to Rs 3,505 crore. The momentum of “losing” thousands of crores is picking up. Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) is suffering from a loss of Rs 35 lakh due to missing tokens. As per the information revealed via Right to Information, from the starting day of the services to January 1, 2018 the BMRC has witnessed 1.78 lakh cases of stolen tokens causing a loss of Rs 35 lakh to the Company. To recover the losses, the Metro authorities initially collected a penalty of Rs 50 which was later hiked to Rs 200 in case of loss of token during the journey. So far the authorities have collected Rs 8.62 lakh as penalty from 10,739 passengers who lost tokens during the their journey. According to the BMRC officials, so far 1,67,320 tokens continue to remain missing. It means that the passengers took extra tokens with them. Some passengers buy extra tokens. They use one token to get the entry and travel while taking the extra ones with them. Smart card users also purchase tokens. Loss of tokens in last 6 months: Period: June 1, 2017 – January 1, ...

Bengaluru: It is good news for Namma Metro commuters that the much-awaited additional coaches for Bangalore Metro trains have almost arrived. The Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) is likely to deliver the first set (three coaches) to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) on February 14. “BEML will hand over the first three coaches to BMRCL on 14 February in the presence of Bengaluru development minister K J George. We will have to integrate the new coaches into an existing train and conduct test runs. The first six-car train will commence operations after clearance from railway safety authorities. We are expecting these procedures will be completed at the earliest and be ready for commercial operations by March,” BMRC MD Mahendra Jain said.
