Nagpur Metro | Bombay HC rejects BEML’s plea against Nagpur Metro bid
Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, on Tuesday, dismissed Bharat Earth Movers Limited’s plea against Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRCL) which had rejected its technical bid. The court observed that petitioner’s joint partner Skoda Electric lacked the necessary experience required for bagging the tender for manufacturing metro coaches.
On January 25, the NMRCL invited tenders for design, manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning of passenger rolling stock (Electrical Multiple Units) and training of personnel. The requirements were — bidder should have at least 10 years experience of designing and manufacturing metro cars and established its performance and reliability for five years in minimum aggregate of 50 cars.
The final condition was that the bidder should have successfully undertaken five different contracts in metros, Light Rail Transit (LRT), and suburban and high-speed railways, of at least one country outside its origin.
The NMRCL raised some queries seeking qualification on certain points, including supply of 363 cars for Tram and not for LRT.
