Kochi Bangalore Industrial Corridor develop a node for the non-manufacturing sector at Ayyampuzha

KOCHI (Metro Rail News): The Kochi Bangalore Industrial Corridor (KBIC) is planning to develop a node for the non-manufacturing sector at Ayyampuzha and develop the area in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner.
"Global City (GIFT) is envisioned to be strong and sustainable economic growth centre that will raise the standard of living for lakhs of Keralites around Kochi which is Kerala’s Business Capital and well connected. It will be an integrated centre for innovation and growth, becoming a desired place to live, work and play for companies. This will be a place for financial prosperity, a centre for innovation and creativity, a place to make things better place with a sustainable environment for business growth", a statement said.





This will be a competitive Global knowledge and Financial Centre that will attract local and international organizations with expertise in these and other relevant sectors. There will be Commercial organisations, Financial Centre, Multi-Tenanted Offices, Incubation and Innovation Centres. The City will include the Hospitality Sector, Knowledge Zone and Healthcare Zones.
The GIFT City is envisaged in such a way that all the international benchmarking in terms of infrastructure and services will be achieved once completed. The project will be Smart, Eco-friendly, sustainable, green and clean. Higher standards of quality will be maintained while developing all the key aspects of the project such as Road Design, Water and WasteWater, Stormwater, Solid Waste, Power, Urban Planning and other aspects.  
"The vision of the project is to develop the place as a centre of economic growth and employment opportunities without any polluting industry or activity. The project is going in the right direction. The CH2M HILL International Ltd (Jacobs Group), the master planning agency has submitted the inception report for the GIFT city. We are at the planning stage only and it is too early to judge the project. This project will change the face of Kochi and make it at par with some of the developed cities of the World." said Alkesh Kumar Sharma IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Special Projects.
He added that the project would follow the standards of a Central Business District Model catering to the criteria prescribed by Indian Green Building Council for Gold/Platinum certification.
The businesses that are planned at GIFT City includes Indian and International knowledge-based companies, Capital Market, Asset Management, the Insurance sector, Legal, Accounting, Audit Management organisations, IT / ITES services, Research Development, Hospitality Convention and Entertainment businesses.
