MHA approves additional security at eight new police stations for Delhi Metro

New Delhi: As Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is expanding its network for the connectivity with the part of the national capital, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has agreed for the proposal of the 8 new police stations for Delhi metro. In these 8 stations, 1 is for the railways and the other six are for the Delhi police territorial police stations.

To meet the new manpower demand a total of 3,139 posts of Constables to Inspectors have been sanctioned. Adding up to this the national Capital will get two new police districts and 12 new sub-divisions this project with a total of 1044 police personnel.
An official said that these eight metro police stations are being created to cater to the safety and security of the passengers as traffic is expected to grow in the times to come. MHA has proposed to create more manpower for 15 police stations which include Eight Delhi Metro Police Station.

Under the phase -1 project the MHA on Tuesday directed the Delhi Commissioner of Police, Amulya Patnaik to create a total of 3139 additional posts in Delhi Police. They have also directed to create a competent authority for the creation of the posts.

As per the proposal, the proposed posts will be created in four phases instead of the proposed 3 phases. Further creation of posts will be considered only after deployment of this 3139 personnel on the ground.
MHA proposal says that the remaining posts will be considered after a thorough review of the working of Delhi Police keeping in view the impact of deployment of personnel recruited in the first phase. For, this existing police station may be revisited for categorization and the staff strength may also be reassessed and redistributed on the basis of the general norms/yardsticks for the creation of posts.

It further includes that one Railways, Six Territorial including eight Metro will get a total of 2095 police personnel"s on various post- Inspector, Sub-Inspector (SI), Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Head Constable (HC) and Constable under the proposal for creation of manpower for 15 police stations situated across the city.

In the upcoming police districts a total of 30 Inspectors, 122 Sub- Inspectors, 102 Assistant SI, 244 Head Constables and 546 Constables will be deployed and 12 police sub-divisions in Delhi.

The MHA will review the aspects of technical up gradation, grants used in the up gradation of existing setup, the impact of increased manpower in reducing crime and efficiency of personnel.

The proposal letter stated that a regular audit of CCTV and other technical sets ups may be done to check the impact, implementation, running conditions.
