Alstom appoints Alain Spohr as Managing Director for India & South Asia

Alstom appointed Mr. Alain Spohr as the Managing Director for India & South Asia cluster based in Bengaluru, India.  Mr. Spohr joined Alstom from GE Energy India where he was the MD & CEO of the GE/Bharat Forge Join Venture and also the India Country Leader for Steam Power Systems.  Mr Spohr brings with him over 35 years of experience in various roles in Country Business Leadership, Unit Management, Project Management, Engineering, Construction and Commissioning coupled with strong exposure to Industrial/factory operations. His rich career in India spans over 14 years which not only gives him a keen understanding on the country’s business environment but also its culture and growth trajectory.

Mr Bharat Salhotra, his predecessor, has been elevated to the office of Vice President Sales & Business Development, Asia Pacific region based in New Delhi. Mr Salhotra joined Alstom in October 2013. Under his aegis, the company not just established itself as a leader in the sustainable mobility space in India but also grew its footprint in the country.  In his new role, Mr Salhotra will be responsible for further developing the commercials in the region and for pursuing new directions to continue growing Alstom in India.
